Stanford hairdresser jailed for stabbing train passenger

A GAY hairdresser has been jailed for two and a half years after he stabbed a man after homophobic comments were made towards him at Basildon rail station.

Basildon Crown Court heard that Lee Howett, 26, Cornwell Crescent, Stanford-le-Hope attacked a passenger on the platform of the station with a pair of hairdressing scissors.

Howett had been involved with a confrontation with an ex-partner before he arrived at the station where he became involved in another altercation with a group.

  1. Unfortunately homophobia and racism are becoming acceptable in Thurrock. Whlist violence cannot be accepted the bullying and harrassment of the gay community is a real issue. Something that TRUST and the equalities team at Thurrock should deal with and we must call on all elected members and the council to challenge hate, racism and homophobia.
