IN the late 1800’s the King of Siam had twenty eight wives and as a result, sixty eight children and the story forms the basis for the musical THE KING & I, which is being performed by Thurrock Operatic Society (TOPS) in March 2013. With a large cast in exotic costumes and lots of scenery, transportation can be difficult. Now, Ockendon based S&J Self Drive Hire have stepped in to help the society with their transportation needs.
Starting from the forthcoming production of THE KING & I, S&J Self Drive Hire will be the official transportation provider to the society. TOPS Chairman, Gary Sullivan explained, “Over the last 20 years, amateur theatre has become more sophisticated in its technical approach and this is reflected in the level of detail we place on our costumes, scenery and lighting designs.”
“Being able to have access to affordable, reliable, efficient transportation is critical to us. We need to be able to move all of our items for the production in and out of the theatre quickly and we’re pleased to announce that for the future we can rely on S&J Self Drive Hire.”
Steve Wilson from S&J Self Drive Hire said “We are pleased to be working with TOPS on their next production and on future performances. Clearly our large range of vehicles, all of which are recent models, was an attraction for the group and we look forward to working with them.”
