Port of Tilbury honoured with Olympic torch from LOCOG

THE PORT of Tilbury received an Olympic torch in recognition of the part they played in the delivery of the 2012 Olympics.

The port was the largest of the two logistic centres for 2012 and stored a huge amount of sporting equipment as well as items and props used for the opening and closing ceremonies.

At a special presentation in the board room at Leslie Ford House in the port, Mick Wright, head of logistics for the London organising committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, told staff at the port how invaluable they were.

Chief executive officer for Forth Ports, Perry Glading spoke passionately about the honour the port felt in playing its part.
