PARENTS are being urged by Thurrock Trading Standards not to give potentially dangerous ‘bling’ dummies to young children.
The ‘bling’ dummies, so called because they are decorated with a variety of beads and gems, have become increasingly popular, especially as a gift or for a special occasion.
Trading Standards officers in another part of the country alerted colleagues to the potential safety risk of the dummies after they failed safety tests.
The hand-glued beads and gems have been found to be easily detached, posing a huge danger as they could easily choke a baby or small child.
Investigations are continuing into the source of these dummies and wherever they find the dummies they will removed from sale.
Anyone with a ‘bling’ dummy or sees them being sold should contact Consumer Direct on 0845 4040506
