Restaurant review: The magical menu of 10 Dining

THIS HAS to be some of the best Indian food I have ever tasted. There, I said it.

We like to think that any review on YT has the reputation (over nearly five years) for saying how it is.

We went to 10 Dining Street in Civic Square, Tilbury, hearing the word on the street that the food was very very special. Not only that but in these difficult times, the prices were very reasonable as well.

We started with a selection of vegetarian starters. The special bhajia was indeed special with crispy potato slices that were enriched by a mild chutney. We complimented it with a mild chilli paneer which contained a stir fry of peppers, onions and hot chillies.

The menu has a mixture of adventure and tradition. So, you can go for onion bhajia or spring rolls but also have “a go’ at the fascinating arrays of starters. Either way, you won’t be disappointed.

This reviewer is somewhat conservative in Indian restaurants. So, we chose a Murgh Makhani. This had such a creamy beautiful sauce which was so tangy. We also tried that tandoori salmon. Not easy to do but once again, your taste bud played a trick on you. It was a perfect fish dish and it was also a perfect indian dish as it spices and fresh herbs really stood out.

As other customers came in, proprietor Sujit Patel is so helpful in taking the customers through the menu. Sujit has that seemingly telepathic ability to know what people might like.

One thing that comes across is the quality of food and especially the vegetables. Dishes that contain spinach and peppers are so fresh and succulent. So, if you are a spinach fan we recommend a Palak Chicken.

But the highlight of the spice and herb infusion was the Lamb Rogan. It is mildly spicy dish but it is the fennel seeds that put it on a whole different plain.

It is also a menu that has done its homework. You feel the Patel family have sat in restaurants in London as well as North India and looked and taken note.

Wednesday to Saturday has a number of specials but we have to say, that every night is a special night.

It is a case of the Field of Dreams cliche: “If you build it they will come” and sure enough, once word percolates out, we believe that people will travel down the A13 to see what the fuss is all about.

It has happened with many restaurants and we are sure it will happen here.

The Patel family, through the Elite Dental Studio in Civic Square have invested in Tilbury and believe in the town. If you love indian food, then please visit. You will not be disappointed.
