STAFF at Grays Library wanted to do something to raise money for Comic Relief – and they wanted it to be fun – libraries are not boring places!
Over recent weeks they have been sorting books of similar sizes – books that have been withdrawn from stock – and put around 300 together.
On Friday (15 March) they then spent an hour standing them up, starting at the top of the stairs and then winding down to the ground floor of the library in the Thameside complex.
The first book was tipped at 10.05, just after the library opened.
An hour later, Grays library staff held a cake sale for everyone working in the building.
Altogether £100 was raised for Comic Relief.
