TILBURY scored an injury time winner to come away from Chatham Town with a deserved 2-1 victory. The game was never in doubt despite a heavy snow blizzard prior to kick off. With games coming thick and fast, manager Paul Vaughan made 2 changes to the line up with Rimmel Daniel and Tom Wraight returning to the side in place of Aaron Waters and Danny Francis.
Tilbury on a good playing suffice, made a bright opening with Mead and Wraight teaming up well on the right. In the opening 25 minutes, the Dockers pressed there hosts with Jacobs going close on 10, before Cutler blazed over on 11. Tilbury thought they had taken he lead on 14 when Tom Wraight headed into the net only to see the goal ruled out for offside. On 27 a late challenge by Alfie Coates saw regular Conor Mead stretchered off with an ankle injury which hopefully wont keep the full back out of action for too long. The delay was over 4 minutes and was replaced by Ryan Blackman. Coates was denied by a good Marrable save on 34 before both Cutler and Henty went close just before the break.
The second half started a fast pace and Chatham came into the game. On 69 Gary Henty had to clear off the line before Hales was denied by a good Marrable save on 70. Within a minute Tilbury had taken the lead when a Tony Jacobs through ball found Tom Wraight who slotted home. Chatham continued to pressure and it came as no surprise with only 3 minutes remaining when substitute Rodrigue N’Diane found space on the right and volleyed home.
The Dockers never gave up and with the vocal support bellowing out, substitute Danny Francis broke down the left, crossed for the excellent Tom Wraight to again slot home to give the visitors the points.
After the game a delighted captain Joe Nightingill commented. We dominated the first half and we deserved to take all 3 points. Youngster Ryan Blackman fitted in the back four nicely after the injury to Conor Mead.
Tilbury welcome Romford to Chadfields on Monday 3pm before travelling to AFC Sudbury on Wednesday night.
