HAVE you ever wondered how to get local bus timetables or route information or sought guided tours of some of Thurrock’s places of interest?
Thurrock Council now has a brand new service to offer – the Travel Thurrock app.
It is free to download to smart-phones and tablets, and it is available via the Apple Store or Android Marketplace.
The council is trying to find ways to persuade local people out of their cars and towards sustainable transport such as walking, cycling and public transport.
But to do it, there needs to be improved availability of information and with today’s market going mobile, the Travel Thurrock app allows users to access travel information remotely.
Among other things it provides:
1.The location of the nearest bus stops or train station in Thurrock;
2.Local bus timetable information and mapped routes for each bus service;
3.Real time’ railway travel information.
4.Thurrock cycle route maps;
Mapped pedestrian routes;
Guided tours of some of Thurrock’s places of interest; and access to Thurrock’s car-sharing website.
How to download the app: Using a smart-phone or tablet go to either your App Store icon or Android Market icon; open up the search facility and type in Travel Thurrock; the icon for the Travel Thurrock App will appear, tap on the icon and then tap the install icon on the screen.
The app will then install onto your phone/tablet and the Travel Thurrock icon will appear.
The app is completely free – so you will not be charged to download it.
