Car-free routes planned for across the borough

AS part of its plans for the future of the borough, Thurrock Council wants to hear people’s views and ideas about creating new car-free links between the borough’s various towns and villages.

The eventual aim is to create green links which will ensure people and wildlife can move car-free from Purfleet to Langdon Hills; Coalhouse to Bulphan; and to and between each major open space and community in between.

However, identifying them is the first step and from there the council will be able to use the information to assist it in negotiations with land owners and developers, as well as seeking funding for access projects, and reviews of public rights of way.

The council is holding a drop-in-workshop at the Civic Offices, New Road, Grays, on Wednesday, 24 April to help identify potential routes. It will run from 1pm to 8pm and is open to anyone.

Large scale plans will be available, showing suggested routes and people will be on hand to record suggestions and comments.
