A TIRED looking Tilbury lost out to 17th place Waltham Abbey in an uninspiring game. Due to injuries, Tilbury fielded four if their regular reserve players. The home side started strongly, with Joe Nightingill having his header cleared off the line after just 2 minutes. 2 minutes later Matthews headed over from a Bradley Webb. Tilbury were undone by a James Peagram strike on 11 to give the visitors the lead when he latched on to a through ball to hit past Marrable.

Tilbury continued to dominate and a Tom Wraight shot from a Waters cross went over the top. Ryan Blackman also had a good chance before the break. On half time Coley who caused Tilbury problems all afternoon was denied by a good Marrable save. With driving rain and a heavy pitch, the sides lacked quality in the second half. Marrable was again in the action twice just after the hour making saves from Ogunkoya and Peagram. Tilbury did have a good chance on 70 when substitute Emiel Aiken tapped just wide.

From the resulting corner Joe Christou headed over the top. With 11 minutes remaining the visitors secured the points when Coley headed home unmarked at the far post. Tilbury looked a weary side at the final whistle and look to hold on to 8th place.

On Tuesday, Tilbury travel to play off hopefuls Witham Town with a 7:45pm kick off.

Tilbury: Marrable, Webb, Waters, Crooks, Nightingill, Christou (Gillman 76), Matthews (Aiken 66), Carlile, Blackman (Daniel 46), Francis and Wraight.
