WE HAVE to admit that YT does not attend the monthly Thurrock Network Group meetings as often as we like. Trouble is 7am to 10am is when we are most likely to be tied to our desks.
Nevertheless, the Thurrock Network Group meet once a month, every Thursday at the Thurrock Business Centre in George Street, Grays (8am kick off).
It is a very relaxed meeting. No hard sell, no pressure. After (free) coffee and croissants, each attendee gets a sixty second slot to talk a little about what they do.
After that, there is a guest speaker.
This month it was Jan Cole, who was discussing the Big Local. We were there to film the item and will put Jan’s presentation up on Monday.
After Jan’s presentation, there was an open discussion on a number of issues.
There was discussion on apprentices and work experience as well as helping Thurrock people get off benefits.
The whole meeting was a treasure trove of information and contacts are made in a very seamless way.
The meeting is chaired with a light touch by Louise Ince of the (award winning) Dotty Hippo Design.
You can find them on facebook, twitter and linkedin.
There was standing room only.
So our message to small businesses, get along there. It is a great support network and acts as a great signpost to business in the borough.
