Ryman Premier Semi-Final Play-Off
Lowestoft Town 1 v 0 East Thurrock United
EAST THURROCK United’s great season ended in defeat as they lost 1-0 to Lowestoft at Crown Meadow.
First sight of goal came in the 6th minute when Sam Higgins produced a header which went just over the bar.
The Rocks were playing a direct game with David Bryant working hard in the channels.
It was a perfect spring evening at Crown Meadow.
Chris Henderson really should have scored in the 12th minute when he broke free of Stevie Sheehan but blasted the ball over the bar.
The Rocks were stifling the Lowestoft style of play as the home team were getting frustrated. This showed as the Lowestoft defender Okay received the first yellow card of the game.
The rest of the half drifted away.
Both teams came out in the second half determined to try and settle the result before ninety minutes.
Both goalkeepers were rarely troubled until the 56th minute when a Sam Collins header forced a fine save from the Lowestoft keeper.
Once again, the corner didn’t ask any questions of the Suffolk team but the Rocks were imposing pressure.
Rocks subbed David Bryant on for Menga as they looked to unlock Lowestoft however just as they did, Chris Henderson took his chance just inside the area to put the Trawlermen a goal up.
Rocks brought on James Lawson in the hope that his wing play could make a difference. But he could not and it was the Suffolk team that went through to the play-off final on Monday against Wealdstone or Concord Rangers.
