Meet the authors at Thurrock Writers Festival

A DOZEN local people who are published authors will be showcased as part of the Thurrock Libraries’ Writers Festival on Saturday, 18 May.

There isn a chance to meet and chat with 12 local writers who have penned true stories covering abuse, domestic violence, bi-polar and PTSD, dementia, life as a Scotland Yard copper, a local food cookbook, as well as fiction stories that thrill and appeal.

Among the authors who will be at Grays Library on the day include Sharon McGovern, author of her own riveting true story of sexual abuse, Afraid; Ann Hart Billingham, who has written the Chafford Hundred Community Cookbook and a new book Thurrock Food Now and Then with the council’s heritage and museums officer Jonathan Catton.

Other local authors at the event include Geoffrey Alan Crisp, Joyce Chipperfield, David Kerr, Paul Rudd, Pamela Darling, Paul Carey, Charles Hall, Fikelephi Jackson, Grace-Chama Pupe and John Woodhouse.

Also on the day, bestselling national author Jean Fullerton will be hosting a free creative writing hints and tips workshop. Book your free ticket for this and the other workshops by calling Grays Library on 01375 413976.
