Concert to celebrate 125 years of Grays Town Band

GRAYS Town Band is celebrating its 125th Anniversary!

A free concert will be held on Saturday 25th May 2013 at the Grays United Reform Church, Bradleigh Avenue at 6.30pm.

The Band will play a selection of music from the decades from the 1880s to the present day demonstrating the wide range of music the band plays. The programme will include ‘Rolling in the Deep’, ‘Jailhouse Rock’ and ‘Eye of the Tiger’ and lots more.

Dave Honeywell, Musical Director of the band said: “This year is our 125th Anniversary and we thought a concert playing music from the decades the band has been in existence would be a brilliant way to start off our celebrations. We are also contacting past members in the hope that they can also be involved by attending the concert or even better, playing the relevant music for the decade in which they were a member of the band.’

All are very welcome to attend this concert and refreshments will be available.

Previously known, amongst other names, as Grays Temperance Band, Grays Town Band has been in existence since 1888 making it Thurrock’s oldest band. The Band plays at many community events across the Borough and beyond. If you or a family member ever played in the band, we would love to hear from you.
