DETECTIVES have appealed for information about a suspected fraud being carried out in the Thurrock area.
Officers are investigating after hundreds of leaflets offering a cheap deal for home-hunters were distributed in the area.
The leaflets, which are headed ‘Your Deserved Accommodation Guaranteed’, promise to find homes for an administration fee of £155.
Other details on the leaflet claim that the project is available under a Government-sponsored Home For All scheme.
But enquiries so far have shown that there is no Government-sponsored scheme of that name.
Investigating officer DS Tina Hart said: “We have serious doubts about these leaflets which seem to be aimed at the homeless or people trying to move up to better accommodation.
“The leaflets have been distributed throughout Grays, Tilbury and Chadwell St Mary and we want to hear from anyone who has responded to the offer on the leaflets through the PO Box at Basildon supplied.”
Anyone with information should contact DS Hart at Grays police station on 101.
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of fraud and have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Presumably these leaflets are being distributed by hand. Wouldn’t a description come in handy.
