Le-Surf wins Labour battle to stand for South Basildon and East Thurrock

MIKE Le-Surf was selected by local members in a meeting held in Pitsea today (Saturday 22 June 2013).

Mike Le-Surf was born in Essex and has lived here all his life. He is the Leader of the Labour Group on Brentwood Council and works for a learning disability charity. He is married and has two daughters.

Mike Le-Surf, Labour’s General Election candidate for South Basildon and East Thurrock, said:

“It’s an honour to be selected by local members to be Labour’s General Election candidate for the key Battleground seat of South Basildon and East Thurrock.

“People here are being let down by a Tory-led Government that is standing by doing nothing to tackle rising prices and is making working families pay more while millionaires are getting a tax cut. It is only Labour that will stand up for our communities.

“It’s time for a One Nation approach. The current Conservative MP voted for policies that really hurt local people and left families here worse off. Labour would guarantee a job for anyone in South Basildon and East Thurrock who has been out of work for more than two years and open up the energy market, forcing energy companies to pass on savings to customers.

“I will be a strong voice for South Basildon and East Thurrock. I will fight the damage being done by this Tory-led Government and I will always do the right thing for our communities.”

Baroness Angela Smith said:

“I’m delighted that Mike will be our candidate for the next General Election. He really cares about local people and this area and I’m confident that he will make a first-rate MP.”

  1. Labour policies for the next election:

All current government cuts to remain in place. End to mass immigration policy. All current welfare cut policies to remain in place. land grabs against anyone that doesn’t build houses on land the Labour party decrees they should. Punitive taxes against wealth creation and accumulation. The are actinglike Tories but we all know what happens if they get into government. Dear old Angela, kept her mouth shut about Gordon and got a life long pension in the Lords, the place that Labour MP’s swear to bring down.

Why don’t Labour just say the ywill make everyone a millionaire overnight. Probably closer to the truth than we think when the currency is devalued to the point Labour can sell us out to the Euro.

The man’s image screams I want to take your money and tell you how to live your life. Strangely like Polly and the rest of the Labour party.

  2. So John Kent can’t get the support of members who live in any area where he runs the council… Damming?
