Contemporary young musician of the year set for Thameside

THURROCK’S first Contemporary Young Musician of the Year reaches its climax in July at the Thameside Theatre.

In the heats at the Culver Centre on May 27, performers, including three bands and two singer/guitarists – playing guitar, bass, drums and singing were bidding to make the final.

The performers were aged between 12 and 18 and all had lessons or attend ensembles in Thurrock.

This is the first Contemporary Young Musician event and if it proves a success will be run annually – as is the long-established Young Musician of the Year event which is classically based.

The finals will be at the Thameside on 11 July starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets will be available on the door at £5 each.

The winner will have the opportunity to perform live at T-Fest.
