Intu Lakeside take personal stylist to remarkable South Ockendon woman

INTU Lakeside’s Personal Stylist routinely helps men and women find the perfect outfit for a special occasion but an unusual appeal from The J’s Hospice – which provides respite and hospice care for 18-40 year olds – called for something a bit different. The request was to style a young woman from South Ockendon so she could attend her sister’s wedding – but it would require the shops being brought to her.

Kaleigh Osborne, 25, has a rare intestinal disorder which means she cannot leave her bed and has to be fed by a machine. The J’s Hospice recognised that intu Lakeside’s Personal Stylist service could provide the kind of support that Kaleigh needed as going shopping at the centre for an outfit to wear to the wedding would be impossible. Home visits aren’t normally offered for free but on this occasion an exception was gladly made and Personal Stylist Angela Poplett conducted a series of visits with rails full of clothes and accessories to find her the right look.

Recognising this opportunity to do something really special, the wider team at intu Lakeside opted to donate £500 to purchase the whole outfit for Kaleigh and arranged visits from a Givenchy make-up artist from the Debenhams store and a professional photographer to truly make the experience unforgettable.

Izzie Peskett, intu Lakeside’s Marketing Manager, says: “Supporting our local community is at the heart of everything we do and we were honoured to be approached by The J’s Hospice and asked to do something so special. Helping Kaleigh attend her sister’s wedding with her head held high is something we won’t forget in a hurry and we were delighted to be able to make a difference.”
