GRAYS-based singing sisters Irene and Elsa Major always dreamt of stardom. Like most young girls growing up, they wanted to be like Madonna and Whitney Houston and spent most of their childhood, performing to their family. Irene and Elsa’s parents always encouraged them to follow their dreams and that is exactly what the sisters are doing now.
In their early teens, Irene and Elsa left their native Cameroon and moved to Paris. As a former Miss Cameroon, Irene quickly found work as a model and eventually went onto star in advertising campaigns for Jaguar, Marks and Spencer, McDonalds and Pretty Polly.
While Irene was enjoying a successful modelling career, Elsa was busy launching her own Vintage Fashion label. During that time, she appeared in high profile television show Temptation Island, in which she starred as a ‘Temptress’. Temptation Island was one of France’s biggest watched entertainment programmes and Elsa became a household name.
After experiencing such huge success in France, the sisters embarked on a move to Grays. Within months of being in the capital, Irene managed to secure a bit-part in James Bond film Die Another Day, alongside Pierce Brosnan and Halle Berry. She then went onto secure another film appearance, this time working with Sacha Baron Cohen in Ali G Da House.
Two years ago, Irene and Elsa decided to quit the fashion industry and pursue their dream of becoming pop stars.
Fast-forward to 2013 and the girls debut single, ‘Love Me Boy’ is scheduled for release on 3rd June and will be available to purchase from itunes.
‘Love Me Boy’ was written by Ivor-Novello winning songwriter Pete Kirtley, who has previously worked with Sugababes, Hear’Say and Kim Wilde amongst others. Irene and Elsa are now hoping to be as successful as their idols but whatever happens, they feel that now is their time to shine. The only way is up for Major!
