Athletics: Cedar Hall athletes strike gold and more at English schools

KHAI Laborde-Riley and Hayley MacLean were just two of the Thurrock stars that shone at the English Schools Track and Field champs in Birmingham at the weekend.

In front of the Sky TV cameras, Enfield hurdler Khai produced a stunning piece of hurdling to win the Senior Boys 110 metre hurdles in a time of 13.90.

Tilbury’s Robbie Clarricoats also took the bronze in a time of 14.2. Robbie and jumper, Josh Olaware also won silver for essex in the 4 x 100 metres.

Stanford-based Hayley Maclean was not to be outdone and won the 400 metre hurdles and in doing so, broke the championship record

They are part of a group of athletes that have benefited from sponsorship by Cedar Hall Clinics based in Stanford-le-Hope and Benfleet.

Hurdler Khai was good enough to name check Cedar Hall in his post-race interview. Khai said; “I would like to thank God, my mum,my coach and Cedar Hall.”

Sophie Riches won gold in 1500m, Alice Perkins won gold in 3000m and Poppy Lake won silver in the high jump
