The Bin Fiasco: The mystery of Mill Lane, Fobbing

AS YOU may well know, there have been a few teething troubles with the new bin collection system in Thurrock.

The list of missed streets still stands, after six weeks, at around 100 a day.

YT checks the list every day. Now and again, there are some interesting reasons why the bin men cannot get down street.

Last week, we noted that they were not able to get down Mill Lane, Fobbing due to “overhanging trees” which begs the question as to how they have got down there for the last twenty years or so?

So, YT took a trip down to Mill Lane and found no overhanging trees. Indeed, there was a very large JCB digging away to its hearts content.

See for yourself.

  1. I think it is about time someone did a FOI to discover how much overtime has been paid to the binmen each week for the two months before the new bin collection rounds…

…and every week since the introduction of the new rounds.

I am sure the figures will make interesting reading – not that I am suggesting that streets are being missed for the most ludicrous reason to inflate the overtime opportunities!
