STANFORD athlete, Hayley MacLean ran the race of her life to win the gold medal in the European under-20’s athletics champs in Rieti, Italy.
Hayley ran a storming 400 metre hurdles to clock a personal best time of 57.26 seconds.
Tears of joy rolled down the Chelmsford AC athletes’ face as she stood for the national anthem.
The silver went to France’s Joan Medjid in 57.34 and the bronze was taken by the Dane, Stina Troest in 57.41 secs
