T-Fest all set for the weekend

TWO years ago one of the stars of T-Fest 11 was Titan the Robot, and this weekend’s event promises twice as much fun.

Titan will be returning to Grays Beach Riverside Park on Saturday (27 July), but Sunday’s futuristic 9ft tall android will be Predatron.

Predatron stuns audiences with his detailed battle armour and hi-tech weapons such as Ice Cannon and Light-Sabre blades.

Titan, as many will recall, proved a huge hit in 2011, but there will be plenty of live acts over the weekend too.

Saturday opens with DJ Music at 10.15 followed by local dance groups and amateur singers and groups before the main stage opens at noon with Ten Point Two, Heroine, Point Inaudible, Doll Set Tones, Uppercut Band, The Scarletz, Car-boot-Tetris, Misunderstood, Danyl Johnson, District 3, Diana Vickers, MK 1, and DJ Spooney.

Sunday’s acts follow a similar patter with DJ Music and the local dance groups and amateur singers and groups before Funky Voices opens the main stage action, followed by Filthy Gorgeous, Danny White, Lady Grey and The Earls, Solid Vinyl Show Case, Magic Sticks, Big Brovaz, Soca Divetts, James Anderson, Cali Jones, The Mend, David Van Day, S Club, Gareth Gates, and The Heaters.

Among the weekend’s other attractions are a fairground on Kilverts Field and a silent disco and dance tent, featuring a variety of DJ sets.

There will also be a range of family friendly street-based theatre which will entertain guests as they arrive and the Grays Beach basketball courts will be hosting a range of fun basketball games.

Cllr Lynn Worrall, Thurrock Council’s portfolio holder for communities, said: “With the weather looking set fine for the weekend and following the recent heatwave everyone going along to T-Fest should make sure they are prepared for the hot and humid conditions forecast.

“Look out this week for the free programmes which will be available around the borough as well as on the T-Fest gates.

“I would like to thank our sponsors – intu Lakeside, Family Mosaic and Igloo – and our other supporters including Thurrock CVS, ngage, Healthwatch Thurrock and Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions for all their assistance. Without them T-Fest wouldn’t happen.

“Finally, I’d like to urge everyone to come along and have some fun. That’s what it’s all about really … Thurrock people coming together and enjoying themselves.”
