A LORRY driver has admitted killing a motorist from east London on the M25 through dangerous driving.
The collision happened on the clockwise carriageway of the motorway near Aveley at 12:30pm on Tuesday, April 2 when four lorries and six cars struck each other.
The driver of a Renault Clio, 79-year-old Ronald Moughton from Lowbrook Road in Ilford, was certified dead at the scene. Mr Moughton’s son, a 58-year-old man, also from Ilford, and another driver, a 47-year-old woman from Basildon, suffered serious injuries which were initially thought to be life threatening.
Anton Maizen was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged with one count of causing death by dangerous driving and two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The 58-year-old man from Wixhausen, in Germany, pleaded guilty to all charges during an appearance at Basildon Crown Court today. [Thurs July 25].
He was remanded in custody until August 30 pending sentence.
A 43-year-old lorry driver who had also been arrested at the scene was released without charge.
