PORTFOLIO holder, cllr Victoria Holloway survived a motion for her to be removed from her post over Thurrock bin fiasco.
It was the final item on the council agenda last night and it was a fascinating debate.
The motion was out forward by shadow Conservative spokesperson, cllr Simon Wootton.
For the first time, cameras were allowed into the chamber to record the debate.

Let’s have a game of where’s Wally. First one to spot kiely wins a seat at the next full council meeting and a signed photo of said councillor.
He’s there! I think he would have got kicked out if he missed this one, to be fair. Glad to see he and his Labour colleagues were able to close ranks and defend the portfolio holder. I’m sure my bins will be collected eventually…
Glad to see YT filming these debates – is it going to be a monthly occurrence to film the important debates/questions?
I notice Councillor Baldwin is also there looking very unconcerned. I would love to know what the average length of a benefit fraud investigation is. I bet its not ten months and counting.
I also think the first word of the headline has two letters too many in it.
Who’s the big guy at the back, dark hair and pink shirt? he looks very agitated…..
Must be a new boy ?
Although my daughters bins were late being emptied this week it is getting better.
Would appear Labour Coucncillors more interested in protecting their colleague than the service?
Blackshots53 – he was sitting in the public gallery – he wasn’t a councillor. He stood for Labour in elections a few years back.
Cutting the number of rounds was supposed to save money – but does anyone know how much overtime has been paid to people for doing the work they were supposed to do anyway?
Ed, he looked very much like Cllr Kiely, but it couldn’t be as he has been missing for ages……
Blackshots53 – I think you are correct – I had forgotten what he looked like!
If that’s Kiely I think he must have just sneaked around the back of Kent and eaten Yash Gupta.
