THURROCK lad Thomas Meadows, who attended Gable Hall School, and is now a member of the RAF, raised over £2445 for “Mencap” last June by completing the London Marathon.
Thomas said “I decided to share the proceeds with both “Mencap” and “Thurrock Mencap”. He added “I wanted some of the money to stay local and Thurrock Mencap are a local self-funding organisation who work hard to raise money for days out, holidays, disco’s etc. for all their members and carers. They have also just started their own football team”.
It was his first marathon, and completed the course in in a respectful time of 3 hours 29 minutes.
He is now in training for the New York Marathon which he is hoping to complete in November of this year.
