Next phase of A13 closures announced

J. Murphy & Sons Limited has announced that the next phase of works is to start, which will include the closure of North Hill Road for improvement works and temporary diversions of the A13 for major bridge works.

On Monday 12th August, North Hill Road will be closed for a two week period, which will result in traffic being diverted via the Orsett Cock Roundabout, where it will follow the A128 to the A127 junction, travel east to the next junction and take the B148 slip onto Dunton Road and proceed to North Hill Road where the diversion ends.

Major bridge works being undertaken will result in the A13 being diverted, at the A1014 junction, between 8pm on Friday 9th August and 5am on Monday 12th August. A second diversion will take place the following weekend, between 8pm on Friday 16th August, and 5am on Monday 19th August. The approved diversion route will see A13 traffic diverted over the top of the junction and back onto the A13.

The diversion routes have been approved by the Highways Authority as a safe alternative route and will be clearly signposted.

The works are being undertaken to increase the capacity of the A13/A1014 junction by widening it from the current two lanes to three lanes.

Road users are reminded to subscribe to the email alerts system on, which will provide advanced warning of changes to traffic management, allowing them to better plan their journey. Diversion routes will be signposted and kept to a minimum. Road users should plan their journey and allow extra time whilst the restrictions are in place.
