ANYONE who witnesses the opening of the Harris Academy Sixth Form back in September will have witnessed the energy and ambition in the Mayflower Road school.
And the first series of A Level exam results show the first year has been a roaring success.
The school offered a total of 27 subjects in the 6th form: 23 A levels and 4 level 3 BTEC subjects.
A total of 61 students completed their studies in the 6th form in their first year, studying A levels, BTEC qualifications or a combination of these.
Principal, Mrs Nicola Graham said: “I am delighted to confirm that we achieved a 100% pass rate in every subject.
“Furthermore, all students achieved C grade or above in 20 of these subjects.
“Of the students taking English, 100% of these passed with 18% achieving A/A* grades. Of those who took Maths, 100% passed with 27% achieving A/A* grades.”
In addition, 100% of students achieved C grade or above in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
Mrs Graham was also delighted to announce that a number of students are off to the blue riband universities
Mrs Graham said: “Approximately 65% will go to University, either immediately or after a gap year, with a third of these going to Russell Group universities.
“I am delighted with these results as they are testament to the hard work of the students and all the staff who taught them.
“It has been a pleasure to launch the 6th form with such a delightful group of committed students.”
