BUSES in London are considering going “cash-less” and that could affect three routes in Thurrock.

Thurrock Council is supporting the Transport for London (TfL) consultation on the proposals.

The three routes are the 370 – Romford to Lakeside (via Ockendon) – the 372 – Hornchurch to Lakeside (via Aveley) – and the 347 – Romford to Ockendon.

Regular travellers are already likely to use an Oyster card as this offers significant discounts on cash fares, but if the proposal goes ahead casual and occasional users will also need an Oyster card as cash would no longer be accepted.

The consultation closes on the 11 October and views of users are being sought.

However local bus users are being urged to complete the TfL consultation (www.tfl.gov.uk/cashless) by the end of September and send a copy to [email protected] so Thurrock Council itself can respond supporting local people’s views.
