THE THURROCK FILM Festival starts on Monday.
The schedule is as follows:
Monday 23rd September:
Under 18 Category screening – 5pm Palmers College
The best films entered into the festival in the Under 18 category of the short film competition (Tickets £3)
A Night At The Movies – 7pm Thameside Theatre
A concert of film music performed by the outstanding and multi-award winning Aveley and Newham Brass Band with peices from Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Les Miserables and many more. (Tickets Adults £5 Conc. £3)
Tuesday 24th September:
Documentary category screening – 6pm Thameside Theatre
The best films entered into the festival in the Documentary category of the short film competition and a special look behind the scenes of the Royal Opera House. (Tickets £3)
Wednesday 25th September:
Student category screening – 5pm Palmers College
The best films entered into the festival in the Student category of the short film competition (Tickets £3)
The Rocky Horror Picture Show – 8pm Thameside Theatre
The runaway cult smash hit musical by Richard O’Brian starring Tim Curry and Susan Surandon. Fancy Dress is strongly encouraged by not compulsory. (Tickets £3)
Thursday 26th September:
BBFC Film Censorship – 3pm Thameside Theatre
An Active member of the BBFC (British Board of FIlm Classification) will present clips to explain how and why films are classified for cinematic release. (Tickets £3)
(This talk is free for schoolchildren and A-Level students if booked by the school/college through us beforehand)
The History of film and filmaking in Thurrock – 5pm Palmers College
Local historian Jon Catton presents a talk on the history of film and filmmaking in the borough of Thurrock (Tickets £3)

Animation and Music Video/Experimental category screening. – 6pm Thameside Theatre
The best films entered into the festival in the Animation category and the Music Video/Experimental category of the short film competition. (Tickets £3)
Friday 27th September:
International category screening – 4pm Thameside Theatre
The best films entered into the festival in the International category of the short film competition. (Tickets £3)
Dirty Dancing – 7pm Thameside Theatre
A special screening of the hit film starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. Experience it once more on the big screen. (Tickets £3) Independence Day – 9pm Thameside Theatre
A special screening of the blockbuster sci-fi smash starring Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum. (Tickets £3)
Saturday 28th September:
Muppet Treasure Island – 10am Thameside Theatre
Sail away with Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy for a swashbuckling adventure. This screening is child/toddler/baby friendly. (Tickets £3)
The Sound of Music – 12pm Thameside Theatre
The classic film starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. There will be free tea and biscuits for those over 65. (Tickets £3)
Fiction Category Screening – 3.30pm Thameside Theatre
The best films entered into the festival in the Fiction category of the short film competition. (Tickets £3)
Awards Ceremony – 7pm Thameside Theatre
Join us as we celebrate the best short films of Thurrock International Film Festival 2013. Winning filmmakers will be presented with trophies and prizes. (Tickets £3)
