DOZENS of organisations from across the borough raised thousands of pounds by taking part in the world’s biggest coffee morning on behalf of MacMillan Cancer Care.
Wendy Higginson and her team raised £290 at the Holy Cross church coffee morning in South Ockendon.
We then crossed over to the very busy Ockendon hub where the lads from HW Wilson were very busy serving coffee and tea to the assembled throng.
There was even a special HW Wilson cake made for the occasion.
We then headed over to Chadwell St Mary where there was a host of events taking place.
We saw deputy leader of Thurrock Council, Barbara Rice was at the morning at Arthur Barnes Court.
Cllr Rice said: “It is a very very busy ward and it is always a giving ward. This is just an example of what the people of Chadwell do.”
The girls at Burlesque hair salon on the Chadwell Road were multi-tasking as they managed to keep “doing” hair whilst running a coffee morning at the same time. Many of the cakes were provided by the wonderful Dolly Turner.
We then headed up to Horndon on the Hill were the ladies that lunch were having an early coffee and cake.
