Football: Three vital away points for Fleet

Wroxham 2 v 3 Thurrock 3

Ryman League North

Jack Pinnock reporting……..

AFTER being knocked out of the Ryman League Cup on Tuesday night, Thurrock’s bouncebackability came to good use with a stunning 3-2 over Wroxham on Saturday afternoon.

It’s even more remarkable that Mark Stimson’s side were 2-0 down in the first 15 minutes of the game, with goals from Stephen Drake and Joseph Mardsden putting the Norfolk side 2-0 up, and Thurrock 120 mile journey looked as though it was going to go to waste.

However, the second half was truly brilliant for Thurrock. The manager’s son, Charlie Stimson, pulled a goal back for his father’s side, before Luke Stanley put the game all square.

Sam Groves of Wroxham was sent off with 20 minutes, but Thurrock found it hard to get the winner. Until the 88th minute, when David Knight pooped up to take advantage of 10-man Wroxham, and seal all three points for the Essex club.
