THURROCK Council’s annual check on electric blankets is being run again this year.
Before the cold nights of winter hit hard, make sure your blanket is safe – even if you had it tested last year.
The council’s trading standards team is offering this test which will be carried out of charge. Drop off points have been set up across the borough to make this service available to as many people as possible.
If you have an electric blanket you would like tested, place it in large bag with your name, address, and telephone number written clearly and attached to the bag securely.
The blankets can be taken to any of the following drop off points:
The South Ockendon Centre, Derry Avenue;
Thurrock Council, Civic Offices, New Road, Grays;
Chadwell Library, Brentwood Road;
Corringham Library, St John’s Way.
The blankets will be tested and returned to residents with a full test report. Unsafe and dangerous blankets which fail the test will not be returned, but you will receive the test report which will explain the reasons behind the decision.
Electric blankets must be dropped off at any of the points above before 22 October.
