Football: Fleet maintain promotion push with win against Soham

Thurrock 2 v 0 Soham Town Rangers

Ryman League North

Bill Robinson reports from Ship Lane…….

A GOAL in each half was just enough to give Thurrock the win, it was less than emphatic but three valuable points that keeps them in the play off places with Soham failing to take they make their way home wondering what if !

Thurrock took the lead in the 35th minute when Soham defence failed to clear from a deep in swinging cross and as the ball was played out it was David Knight who side footed home from around ten yards.

Soham continued to push forward and despite losing their keeper to injury in the 60th minute Thurrock could not capitalise on this weakness until the final minutes when David Knight but Brad Warner clear down the left flank, Warners drove his cross hard and low for Charlie Stimson to slide home the second goal of the game, sealing the win for Thurrock.
