Disgust as yobs vandalise army land rover belonging to fallen war hero’s father

THE AVELEY community were left disgusted at the weekend after mindless yobs vandalised a land rover that belongs to the father of fallen war hero, Nicky Mason.

Dennis Mason had parked the khaki coloured Land Rover on Aveley High Street on Saturday night, close to the war memorial, in preparation for the remembrance service on Sunday.

The memorial has a dedicated corner to Lt Cpl Mason, who fell in Helmand Province in 2008.

Essex Police confirmed that they had recieved a report regarding damage to the wing-mirror and near-side door of a Land Rover.

One Aveley resident, who did not wish to be named said: “I am disgusted. Nicky gave his life so that we may enjoy freedoms and this is how some mindless yobs repay them.

“I hope the CCTV in Aveley High Street has caught them on camera.”
