IT IS always one of the highlights of the Thurrock calendar and this year was no exception as the Thurrock Asian Association (TAA) hosted Diwali celebrations at the Thameside Theatre.
Cultural Secretary of TAA Meena Mitra said: “I have been presenting the Diwali show for over 10 years, and am overwhelmed with the support received from the local community.
“This year we had an amazing turnout of 300 people, and it was truly wonderful. We had some beautiful South Indian and Nepalese dances, a number of bollywood, bhangra and belly dancing acts well as songs and instrumental performances.
“It was a busy and fun evening.
“The show was a success because of the efforts and commitments of the volunteers, and together with the support of the Thameside Complex team we had a great evening.”
