Hockey: Thurrock bounce back against Upminster

Thurrock 1st XI 2 – 1 Upminster 2 XI

THURROCK bounced back from two loses to win this weeks game 2 – 1 after a hard fought match against Upminster 2nd XI at Palmers.

The first half was a relatively quiet half of hockey with few chances to either side and the half time whistle blew with the score line at 0-0

The away side broke the deadlock midway through the second half somewhat against the run of play but Thurrock managed to grab an equaliser through Tommy Ing converting yet another short corner. He sweetly struck the ball into the left corner of the goal.

Shortly after Thurrock grabbed the winner through Jak Taylor who was put through on goal by Declan Millane who lifted the ball over the last 2 defenders perfectly into Jak Taylor’s run. He managed to carry the ball into the D and slip it to the right of the keeper.

The final few minutes were tense for Thurrock who held strong and saw out the game to get back to winning ways.

Man of the Match went to Andy Gaut who was in fine form in between the sticks.

Next week the T’s take on Redbridge & Ilford away.
