Pantomime season over opening of Corringham Police Station

YOU WILL SOON be able to go to Corringham Police Station and report crimes…….

On no you won’t.

On Thursday, it was reported in a number of papers that Corringham police station would be open and that the public would be able to report crimes.

However, soon after that police inspector, Lee Argent tweeted to the contrary, describing it all as “just a rumour”.

Today (Thursday) Essex Police have gone on the record and it is clear that the station will not be open to the public to report crimes.

A spokesperson said: “Essex Police would like to clarify its position in respect of the building which was previously home to Corringham police station following a misleading article in the local press.

“Thurrock Council’s Youth Offending Service will be leasing the building, which is still owned by Essex Police, and while local officers will still be able to use the building as a base whilst on patrol in the area, no front counter service will be provided by Essex Police.

“Any residents in Corringham who need to report crime or speak to a police officer or member of staff can do so by calling 101 or visiting the police station at Grays.
