THE Mayor of Thurrock, Cllr Tony Fish, presented Glenda Stephens BEM with a vase on behalf of the council at last week’s council meeting (27 November).
Cllr Fish said: “Earlier this week I received a visit from Glenda Stephens who received the British Empire Medal in June this year for services to hockey in the borough.
“She has been an inspiration for many young people over the years and fully deserves her recognition.”
He added: “I am pleased to inform you Mrs Stephens is with us this evening and I would like to make a presentation to her on behalf of the council to recognise her contribution to the borough.”
