BULPHAN Women’s Institute’s meeting on Wednesday, 11th December was a very festive occasion: a drink at the door put us in party mood, and we started by finding out which member was the most well-prepared for Christmas (Jan White!), then the team games included “Pass the pack of cards”, a Christmas quiz and charades.
Jan Curtis was presented with the competition cup for the most points gained during the year. Our 2014 programme was distributed, and copies are available in the village shop. A big box of food was collected for Thurrock Food bank.
Our member Margaret Gladwell volunteers at both Thurrock and Pitsea food bank, and will deliver the food for us. A collection was taken for Thurrock Women’s Refuge, and members also contributed to St. Luke’s Hospice.
Every member had contributed a plate of festive food to the supper table – delicious – and we finished with jolly songs, accompanied by the accordion and many percussion instruments. Our January meeting will be a fun auction, with ex-Essex WI chairman June Ward as our auctioneer.
Bring along your unwanted Christmas presents, free gifts, items bought by mistake and they will be auctioned off for our funds.
