Family pet injured during burglary in Corringham

DETECTIVES  are investigating a burglary in Corringham where the thieves have not only stolen sentimental items from the family home but left a cockatiel distressed and injured.

Between 1.30–5.45pm on Friday January 3 someone has smashed the rear french doors of an address in Goldsmiths Avenue, Corringham, entered and stolen various items including a pink toy box, safe and jewellery.

Investigating Officer Ds Eileen Mullins said: “During the burglary the occupant’s cockatiel has been injured and suffered nasty wounds to its body, however this probably happened as the suspects broke in and the bird became distressed.” The bird has been treated by vets but is still poorly.

Anyone with any information about the break in is asked to contact Ds Mullins at Grays Police Station on 101.
