VOLUNTEER Centre Thurrock is holding a free drop-in ‘New Year, New You’ Recruitment Fayre to help people find volunteering opportunities in Thurrock. The event is being held on Tuesday 21st January, between 11am – 2pm at the Beehive, West Street, Grays, Essex, RM17 6XP.
Laura Hudson, Volunteer Coordinator said “Our New Year, New You Recruitment Fayre will be a great way for people who are considering volunteering in 2014 to speak to organisations in person about some of the opportunities available. We would especially like to encourage parents whose children may have started school in September 2013 and are now feeling at a loose end following Christmas. ”.
“Volunteering can help people develop new skills, enhance their CV and improve employment prospects. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to socialise, meet new people and be part of a community. The Recruitment Fayres are very informal and they have a lovely friendly atmosphere. It will give them the opportunity to talk to others about volunteering over a cup of tea and a slice of cake”.
We would also encourage organisations who are considering using volunteers in 2014 to come along and find out how they can register their opportunities with the Volunteer Centre Thurrock.
The new FREE ACE training programme (January – April) will be available with lots of free training to help people learn new skills or enhance their existing skills. So why not make 2014 count, make a change and start volunteering, there’s something for everyone!
