A STANFORD councillor has pledged to take action against parking on the Manorway in Corringham.
Stanford East and Corringham Town councillor, Phil Smith said: ‘Last week, I drove on to the Manorway, to be greeted by a row of container lorries parked on the slip road from Southend Road to the Manorway.
I contacted DP World and the council to get the Container lorries removed and ensure this does not happen again.
The slip road was cleared with no sign of container lorries being parked along the length of the Manorway.
As councillor for Stanford East and Corringham Town, I call upon the council to ensure that this does not happen again and to give the council and the police the necessary authority.
“I call upon the council to designate the Manorway from the A13 and to what will be the new Sorrells Roundabout as a ‘Clearway’.
During the approval process for the port we asked and was given assurances that DP World had sufficient parking available on site.
I would ask DP World to contact the various hauliers and tell them that parking is available on site and also make it clear that stopping on the public highway will lead to them being fined and possibly clamped.
