A TILBURY community organisation has announced a change in its leadership.
A community champion who has long been involved in the Tilbury area is stepping down from her role of Chair at One Community Development Trust.
Yewande Kannike said: “Chairing One Community has given me lots of new skills as well as the chance to get to know many good people in Tilbury. I’m happy to say I’m not leaving One Community, as there’s still so much to do to release local potential in our area”.
Sarah Bryant, who also lives in Tilbury, is the new Chair of One Community. Sarah said: “I’ve been shadowing Yewande for a while now as Vice Chair, and I’m looking forward to the challenges of my new role. It’s part of One Community’s ethos that community people are supported to strengthen their skills and take advantage of new opportunities in the charity. We are pleased that Yewande can now focus on operational leadership, as Project Director.”
Terry Stevens, another person who is very active locally, has taken up Vice Chair. Terry said: “This is fairly new to me but I know I can count on the support of the other trustees and Yewande. It’s a team effort here, and we’re all passionate about our community”.
