Mayor of Thurrock, Cllr Tony Fish, made the selection in a £500 charity draw.
Peter Land had decided to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Care after hearing about the good work they did and the efforts the charity put into fund-raising.
He decided to run a prize draw for the charity and on Wednesday was in the Mayor’s Parlour at the Civic Offices in Grays for Cllr Fish to pick the winning tickets.
Peter said: “My dad died of cancer a few years ago and then I heard about the work MacMillan do and how they use coffee mornings to raise money. I just felt I had to do something.”
He added: “I’d like to thank everyone who donated prizes – especially Heroes Framing Centre of Grays and Sainsbury’s at Chafford Hundred – and everyone who bought tickets. I’ve raised £505 overall.”
Cllr Fish said: “Peter’s obviously put a great deal of work into doing this and deserves our thanks. When he asked me to make the draw, it was a pleasure to accept.”
Others who donated prizes were: Waldorf Hilton Hotels, Mercure Hotel, Crowne Plaza resort, LA Rams, Simmy Services, Maria Hayes, Amy at Modest Management,
