A POLICE investigation into allegations of historic sex abuse at Essex Fire and Rescue Service has led to a report being submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

The investigation was launched in June, last year.

Since then officers have interviewed individuals from as far as Canada and Australia as part of their investigation, which centred on claims of initiation ceremonies (as far back as the eighties), in which people were being sexually abused.

YT understands that the investigation centres on activity in the now defunct Tilbury station.

The investigation took a tragic twist when, Martin Sibley, a serving fire officer, was found dead at his Colchester home, after being interviewed by Essex Police.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: “Following a criminal investigation into allegations of criminal offences at Essex County Fire and Rescue Services, the investigation is now complete.

“A file has been passed to the Crown Prosecution Service.”

Essex Police confirmed to YT that no persons had been charged.
