U3A hold AGM

ON WEDNESDAY January 29th, the Thurrock branch of U3A held its thirteenth Annual General Meeting
meeting at the Civic Hall, Grays.

Chairperson Maggie Whitbread reported that the branch enjoyed a bumper year with membership topping 500 with a waiting list policy in operation.

There were over 40 individual groups offering a range of interests and activities which members could join.

A knitting group was now up and running.

Volunteers for additional subjects would be welcomed.

The treasurer reported a healthy bank balance thanks in part to generous donations. A detailed report was available.

As all current committee members were eligible for re-election they were elected unopposed.

An additional three lay members were elected.

Members were urged to book early for the Christmas Lumch at the Orsett Hall as the venue was very popular and was well on the way to being fully booked.

The next meeting will be on Wednesday February 26th.
