THEY sometimes say it’s not WHAT you know but WHO you know that is important. And when you have a problem or a question it helps to know just who to talk to. It is even better if the answer is right on your doorstep. The Information and Advice Service at the Aveley Youth & Community Centre is always trying to add new services to help their local residents.
Today they have added a new string to their bow. HASS (the Housing Advice and Support Service run by Open Door) is now running a drop in Advice Surgery at the Centre every Wednesday from 1 to 3pm.
Each week a trained advisor will be onsite to help with general and specialist housing advice, information on homelessness, help mediate problems within families and other advice regarding housing, benefits and debt. Advice is free and you don’t need an appointment.
The Centre also holds advice and information leaflets and, if they can’t help you they will help you try to find the right person to talk to and, if needed, help with internet searches and phone calls.
The Centre is open Mondays to Fridays from 10am to 3pm. We are on Aveley High Street and you can phone us on 01708 862001.
