Community celebrates Diversity Day in Tilbury

divRCCG Tilbury celebrated five years since their first Diversity Day with a celebration of the growing communities in Tilbury.

Residents and community champions from the Tilbury area and across the borough came together to the event in the Civic Square.

The guests included South Chafford councillor, Tunde Ojetola as well as Labour’s Parliamentary candidate Polly Billington.

Ms Billington said: “Tilbury is changing rapidly and this church is helping to create a community where people feel comfortable with each other. Pastor Abraham and his wife Bunmi are determined that the church can contribute to Tilbury, and events like today show what can be done when we get to know each other.

With such fast changes to a town like Tilbury, it is important that everybody makes an effort to understand each other.

It was particularly welcome that the borough Police Commander Ben Hodder sent two police officers to attend the event, as trust betwen the community and the police is important.”
