Council commit to crack down on the Manorway

THE PROBLEM of heavy goods vehicles parking on The Manorway between the A13 and Coryton should be at an end.

Following a consultation, Thurrock Council is designating the length of the dual carriageway as a 24-hour Clearway with no parking allowed.

Cllr Andy Smith, the council’s transport portfolio holder, said: “There has been an increasing problem with lorries parking on The Manorway and now we have the power to stop it.

“This Order means it is illegal to park anywhere on the four-mile stretch from the A13 interchange to the Fleet Street roundabout – you can’t stop on the road, the verge or the footpath.”

Cllr Angie Gaywood, cabinet member for public protection, added: “Our teams are ready and we’ll be working this stretch of road hard with officers and the CCTV car PIPPA.

“Lorries should not park on the roadside – anywhere – but in this instance we have been able to take the actions needed to enforce it; and enforce it we will.”
